The Sunny Share!
This week’s share is heavy on the fruits and warm season crops! We’ve switched from green salads at lunch to cool cucumber, tomato and onion salads.
We’ve also been canning up a storm! If you are looking for extras produce for canning and freezing, we have some extras available! Please let us know if you’d like to purchase some for your winter storage!
- Roma tomatoes (great for sauces and salsas) – $3/lb
- Pickling cucumbers – $2/lb
- Zucchini (grate or roast and freeze, or pickle!) – $1.50/lb
- Basil for pesto – $24/lb
Tomato Tasting at Ripple Farm
Join us on Thursday, September 4 from 3:00-4:30PM for a farm tour and tomato tasting! Basil will be a part of the party too! Ripple Farm is at 6476 Fitzgerald Rd in Merville (but if you’re looking it up on Google Maps, you need to search Courtenay, because Google doesn’t know Merville exists…)
What’s in the share this week?
- New Zealand Spinach
- Summer squash
What’s gazpacho? A cool cucumber and tomato soup that is makes a very refreshing lunch on a hot summer’s day! There are a plethora of gazpacho recipes online, but we found this recipe for Classic Gazpacho and think it looks deelish.
